CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- The Marines of Wounded Warrior Battalion-East welcomed Lt. Col. Scott Meredith as he took command from Lt. Col. Lawrence Coleman at the WWBn-E change of command on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, June 21, 2018.
Although Coleman only served four months with WWBn-E, he had nothing but positive things to say about the unit.
“Over the short period of time I’ve been here the staff has done an incredible amount,” said Coleman. “I’ve done very little, as a leader I’ve provided opportunities and time to do what you came here to do and that’s to support the Marines and as a result we see smiles and people enjoying what they’re doing.”
During his time at WWBn-E, Coleman talked to many wounded, ill and injured Marines who left lasting impressions on him.
“The impact you all left on me is going to last a life time,” said Coleman. “I appreciate everything that you all have done for me so thank you very much.”
Meredith was grateful that Coleman served as the commanding officer for a short time before him because he improved the state of the battalion and boosted the camaraderie of the Marines.
“I of course need to thank [Coleman],” said Meredith. “Not only did you come here and sustain what was going on, but it was through your dedication that you have improved the life of this battalion and provided me a head start. I hope that I can continue to keep that momentum going.”
