2017 Warrior Games: Go #TeamMarineCorps!

The 2017 Department of Defense Warrior Games kicks off in Chicago. 40 Marine Corps athletes will compete alongside more than 200 other wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans in the festivities, held June 30 to July 8. The wounded warrior athletes will represent the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Special Operations Command, and teams from Australia and the United Kingdom. Teams include active-duty service members and veterans with injuries to the upper body, lower body and spinal cord, as well as traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, serious illnesses and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Defeating Cancer and Remaining in the Fight: First-time Warrior Games Athlete to Compete in Five Events

First-year athlete, like Lance Cpl. Andrew Harris, competes in the 2017 Department of Defense Warrior Games in Chicago. This competition is the highlight of the hard work he has invested in his recovery as he competes in an impressive five events, including track and field, archery, cycling and volleyball.

Hidden Heroes: Caregivers Stand Beside our Marines

Caregivers for wounded, ill, or injured Marines or Sailors face a range of challenges that impact them on daily basis, including physical health, mental health, financial, educational, familial, transportation, housing and legal issues. Through events like retreats, weekly coffee meetups and an annual Caregiver Appreciation Day, RCCs and the Wounded Warrior Regiment provide opportunities for caregivers to share experiences, find support for the unique challenges they face, relax and remain able to aide in their Marine’s recovery.

Brave Art: The Healing Power of Art for Our Wounded Warriors

On April 12, the Military Health System recognized the benefits of art in recovery and launched the Pentagon Patriotic Art Program: Wounded Warrior Healing Arts Exhibit. The exhibit features 40 dynamic images of artwork created by individuals across the military services’ Wounded Warrior programs and from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s National Intrepid Center of Excellence.
