Team Marine Corps trains for DoD Warrior Games

The Marine Corps team held nothing back as they trained aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton May 6-10 for competition in the Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games to be held in June.

Marine Corps Trials 2019: Wounded Warrior Adaptive Sports Invitational

Wounded Warrior Regiment will host the 9th annual Marine Corps Trials at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Feb. 26 to March 9, 2019. The Marine Corps Trials is an adaptive sports event involving nearly 200 wounded, ill, or injured Marines, Sailors, veterans and international competitors. Organized into three competing teams, participants represent Wounded Warrior Battalion-East, Wounded Warrior Battalion-West, and an international team of wounded warriors from Colombia, France, Germany, Georgia, Italy, and the Netherlands.

A Change Agent: A Personal Note to Deborah Paxton on her Retirement

On September 27th, Wounded Warrior Regiment said farewell to a remarkable staff member, Deborah Paxton, MSN, RN, as she entered retirement after a lifetime of support to the Marine Corps and a decade with WWR. Mrs. Paxton served as the mental health advisor to the regiment, a position that was essentially created due to a need she saw and promoted at meetings with senior leaders. Her tenacity and nursing background formed a dynamic combination to be the advisor, voice of reason, leader and friend WWR and its recovering Marines and Sailors needed.

Wounded Warrior Regiment boasts a staff of many experts in the field of warrior care, leading the way for the last decade. In fact, many refer to the Marine Corps model as the gold standard for non-medical care coordination, and our staff continue to live up to that expectation. One of our longest serving civilians, Mr. Dean Trio, was recently awarded the Marine Corps Association and Foundation (MCAF) Civilian of the Year during the annual Wounded Warrior Awards Dinner. He stands out among of a group of remarkable awardees for his unfailing dedication and quiet resolve to support Marines.

Staff Sergeant Receives Purple Heart in Family-Centered Ceremony

On National Purple Heart Day, WWR highlights a purple heart recipient, Staff Sgt. Richard Ryan Parker. Staff Sgt. Parker was injured by an improvised explosive device in December 2010 in Afghanistan and his initial application for the award was denied. He figured that was the end of it — until two years ago, when he connected with the Wounded Warrior Regiment and began working with field support representative Brian Liedstrand.
